How the hell does Twitter make money? I'm completely stumped. I assumed it was plastered with ads, so I turned off adblock.

Nope. No ads. What the hell?

Amazon didn't make money for the first 7 years so I'm sure twitter has plenty of time to work something out.

In the US, AIUI, the recipient of an SMS pays for the privilege. This means that when a company gets to the point of sending as many messages as Twitter does, the phone company starts paying them rather than the other way 'round.

They don't how they'll make money either. Their investors, Union Square Partners say The question everyone asks is "What is the business model?" To be completely and totally honest, we don't yet know.
