Norway -- it's further than you think

Those using Microsoft's Mappoint service will be surprised to learn that the Norwegian cities of Trondheim and Haugesund almost 1,700 miles apart and are on either side of the UK. (and are also separated by France. And Belgium. And the Netherlands. And Denmark.)

Quickest Route?

The "quickest route" setting chose to use two ferries and the Chunnel? That's just weird. At least it markes *Check Timetable* for the Ferries.

Their alpha-beta-pruning search engine pruned something it shouldn't, I guess (unless it knows which roads are closed in the winter.)

Thank you for sharing that, it's precious.

Reverse directions

What is interesting is if you click "Reverse directions", it gets things right. Going from Trondheim to Haugesund, no problem. Go the other way, you get to see Antwerp.

It also happens with other destinations from Haugesund like Oslo or Kristiansand. It bet it is the ferries which confuse it.

Hey, are you going to Duane's dinner on Friday? If so, I'll see you there.
