Ovid: What brought you to the US?
Auditor (sadly): The right-wing politics of Margaret Thatcher.

Much laughter followed.

Did he come over here in the 18 months that Margaret Thatcher held office before Ronald Reagan became President?

Seems odd that you would abandon England due to Thatcher politics to run to Reagan politics in the US, the US being a generally much more conservative country than England.

In the same period, he could have gotten fairly easy immigration to the much more liberal Canada or (at the time) Australia.
