Pinpointers

Today I stumbled across this web site, which allows you to track mobile phone user's whereabouts. For £1 a day it will email you when the mobile phone moves, and the email includes a map of where it moved from and to, right down to the street level.

I'm not sure if this is awesome or really really scary.

As the first thing that greeted me was a popup saying "This site has been designed for internet explorer!", I'd vote for the "really scary" option.

Kid tracking

I want one for my kids. I'd love to put one on a money belt inside William's clothes, so I can put him into his car seat then go back in the house without the nightmares of having him 'napped being quite so potent.

For a second there I thought they'd figured a way to track a phone as it moved from Cell tower to Cell tower.

Luckily you've got to use their phones. I can see some great uses for this.

Of course here in the United States of Bush, there's a law that all Cell phones must provide trackable GPS information by a certain date, to enable "Emergency Services" to find you when you dial 911.

Now THAT is scary.
