My wife just wanted to download something from C|Net's download.com. Now things have changed there - you now need to register to download anything.
So she put in some fake info, but unfortunately put in a valid email address. She left everything about wanting to receive emails from anyone unchecked - she didn't want that.
On hitting submit it kindly informed her that she had opted to receive all sorts of information from their partners.
Not nice. I'd report it to someone somewhere, but I don't know where.
