My connection to my home server (axkit.org et al) went down at about 10am this morning. It didn't come back up (DSL, so sometimes it just goes away but comes back eventually). So I figured it was the DSL box needed rebooting. Since I only work 2.5 miles from home I figured I'd just go home at lunchtime and reboot.
As I pulled into the street I saw why I had no connection. Our telegraph pole was lying on the back of a flatbed truck, with them digging a hole for a new one.
Apparently it'll all be back to normal in a couple of hours or so (though I bet then I have to reboot the DSL router again!). Meanwhile it's kinda wierd getting through the day without IRC. Every time I want to discuss something random with someone (preferably with more intelligence than the guy I sit next to) I kind of stop as I'm tabbing towards XChat and think to myself: "Bugger".
