Lunch

Why do people feel the need to give us what basically amounted to a commercial project talk over lunch? There are better times/places. And at $40 a meal I'd prefer to spend it talking to friends.

Glad I missed it

I had a feeling that's what it was going to be. Fortunately I'd finished eating before 1, so I went in and got my remaining vendor stamps in the exhibit hall so I could get my free O'Reilly books. Never did find the Daemonnews booth, though.

Useful to Me

My organization is knee-deep in RealNetworks, so I found the talk extremely useful. I supposed if I had already read the press releases, then maybe I'd feel the same.

And yet, I too remember the OpenOffice hype of last year, using a similar license. Where's that energy now? Will this Helix stuff fade out the same way?

The Open Office hype was 2 years ago, and I now use it as my primary word processor. It also looks like Helix license is not as open as Open Office's.
