Woodpecker in the snow

Woodpecker's are different in Canada to the UK - they're smaller (this little fella was just the size of a sparrow), but they seem slightly more common. We've had suet out for the birds for a while now, and they love it. So do the squirrels (though I hear they're getting a taste for dog).

Kinda looks like a juvenile red-headed woodpecker, which if I recall correctly is the smallest breed. Contrast that though to the Pileated woodpecker (aka Cock-of-the-North), which is a magnificent bird a fair bit bigger than a blue jay.
