Vim

Vim 6.0 is nice. It has really nice syntax highlighting, and the cursor keys work in edit mode, and lots of other goodies (like line numbering in the left hand column). So, I'm doing an experiment:

A month with Vi(m)

I've installed it on both my home Linux box, and my Windows (ugh) box here at work. Gvim is a pretty sweet editor - with the only exception being the lack of CUA keystrokes (which I like). So if in a month vim convinces me that vim keystrokes are better than CUA, the world will be a happier place (and I can dump my prior preferred text editor of choice.

The biggest bonus I can see is that if I learn all this, then I'll be able to edit files via SSH in a syntax highlighting editor, without worrying about having to constantly copy files here and there.
