Hopes -- Dashed.

I had some high hopes when i read that allmusic.com was redesigning. Their old site was such crap -- mainly their javascript-based links (way to break the web, guys!).

Today was the official launch. Upon my first visit I am greeted with this (Firefox 0.92):

Notice: You are accessing allmusic.com with a browser that is not currently supported. The appearance and functionality of the site could be impacted. allmusic.com is optimized for Internet Explorer 5.5 and above for Windows.

So much for progress.

Bad start?

This is what I got on my first try:

We apologize for the temporary connection delay.
Please click the refresh button on your browser.

... and on the second, and on the third... :-)

Like... oops? :-)

Too slow

Ok, I finally managed into the site (tenth try?).

It is *way* too slow!!! I did a basic search (Smashing Pumpkins), waited for a
while and received an "Error 2 Timeout" from their side... hit the back
button, and we're back to the apologies "for the temporary connection delay"...

I try again, and this time I don't make any search, I just look at the page...
Hmm, my browser (Mozilla 1.4) isn't supported, as I expected...

Hit the "Top Searches" button... Hurray, they're apologizing to me again!!

Ok, I'm going to bookmark this site. Everytime I feel like having someone
apologizing to me, I'm going there :-)

Looks like Tim Murtaugh has done some work on a standards-compliant fix-up.

Looks pretty good so far!
