Today I found this article: Tracking Assets in the Production of
'Final Fantasy : The Spirits Within'. Very interesting.
BTW it references article Beeting tthe Averages which I recomend everybody to read. I enjoyed reading it some time ago but later I've lost link on it.

As a day to day user of (what was) viaweb, I can say that things aren't all great. They used closures for state, giving urls like x?fkdf30945 and managing to defeat the back button. There are some other funky bits, but I guess I can attribute that to Yahoo doing minimal development over the last 5 years. Parts of the system have been rewritten in Perl (the shopping cart) which also seems to be popular in Yahoo Finance. It seems that the viaweb platform is to be rewritten in C++.
I find it fairly amusing to see Paul Graham's lisp advocacy articles, in which he makes fun of companies that develop in perl when perl has become a fairly dominant web development tool and lisp hasn't :)
