I'm fed up with SourceForge

  • Mailling list archives are being broken too often
  • Mailling list archives do not show attachments
  • Web interface to CVS and anonymous access to CVS has up to 24 hours lag

Yes, it is a free service and if I don't like it I can pack my things and go somewhere else. Well, probably I will do exactly this.

Yeah, what you said

I have to admit that I get annoyed with SF sometimes as well, especially CVS lag. I swear that sometimes my commits *never* show up.

The only other service that comes to mind is Savannah. The Ruby community setup RubyForge, mainly because the RAA doesn't do hosting. Perhaps someone should setup a PerlForge?

I like this idea. I guess that main problem of SF is that they have way too many projects and either the whole system doesn't really scale or they don't have enough resources to maintain it. As result it constantly breaks here and where. On the other hand there is not that many Perl oriented projects to make maintenance of PerlForge as hard as maintenance of SF.
