Search.CPAN seems to be down...

I hope it's very temporary. Argh.

Needing to download Parse::Syslog and Statistics::Distribution, don't know how to get there without going through search.cpan.org.

It seems to be back up again... I was able to download the packages I need.

Newbie question though, how often does this happen, and is there a way to get packages without using the search.cpan.org interface?

Just a glitch

As with just about any site, there are temporary hiccups. The guys behind the scenes are very quick to respond and it's rare that it's out of action for any long period. Having said that the last hiccup was probably about a year ago, if not longer, so it's definitely not a frequent occurance either.

As for other sources. There is Kobesearch (Randy Kobes' alternative search CPAN site) or BackPAN if what you need isn't recent.

I have found CPAN::Mini to be one of my closest friends :-)
