I'd heard of the Vmware Perl scripting API and wanted to have a go ( being naturally curious ).
The scripting API installed an ancient version of perl and I wondered if I could use my Strawberry Perl installation instead.
I found this article which explains how to rebuild the VMware modules.
I tried it out on Strawberry and it built and installed. I was able to get a list of the Vmware images on my server. Excellent! I just need to get the time to play with the other capabilities now.
We just finally got our ESX server setup this past week. I downloaded the Perl Scripting API yesterday to play around with it, but haven't had a chance yet. I'll have to check out that article this week while I'm at VMware training since I'm using (of course) Strawberry Perl as well.
