Monday was the first day for both the bowling and the Spanish courses. Status updates: Spanish is fun enough. First lesson focused on introducing yourself, spelling and pronunciation. Summary of the day: El burro sabe más que tú.

Bowling was good fun but more difficult than on the Wii. 3 game average: a very low 80.

True story: some years ago, the Southern California Jockey Club (which regulates horse racing) somehow allowed a horse to be named "Chingaso". The horse was actually pretty good for a claimer, and kept the name for a couple years, but eventually the owner was politely told a namechange was in order.

My wife works in a high school classroom. Half the kids speak Spanish. She asked me what one thing or another meant (I know a few words and was not sure about some), so I googled for something like "spanish vulgar dictionary" and printed one out and gave it to her. The teacher wanted a copy too. Now they can send even more kids to the principle's office :-)
