I just had a rather interesting discussion with one of my co-workers. He's been working in databases for the past 20 years or so.. I've been using databases for uhm 15 years now. I've used table relations and keys for a few years and for my current (read: 5 year plan) project, I have little or no use for them. I have very few tables, they are quite short and relationships between tables are rare to non-existant. We discussed maintainability, scalability, error handling and even GUIs. All in all a very interesting talk. I'm still not sure how I can improve my schemas. I'm guessing it's more trouble than it's worth.
