Optimistic

I know there has been a rather big fuzz in the past about the correct way to store the year in a date. A really optimistic way to store it... Why don't SciFi movies use THAT as a reference date?!?

In the year 65535, the earth is overrun by giant milk cartons. They take the president hostage and demand 500 cows as ransom..

UTC offset might be too limited, though

The hours from UTC permits 0..11, but I sort of recall that there are some places close to the International Date Line that opt of +13:00 instead of -11:00 because they don't want to be a full day away from their neighbours.
