This morning I left home early to head to a customer about 100 kilometers away. Needless to say, I was stuck in morning traffic. I arrived around 9 AM with a spare hard disk and my trusty toolkit to replace a faulty hard disk in their fileserver. I replaced the disk, got the internet connection back up and assisted a co-worker to restore the backups. Somewhere in there it went haywire. They had backups on DVD+RW and .. uhm well, they didn't. There were no backups on the DVDs. We had the incremental ones but not the weekly snapshots.
End of the day, I took the server with me and headed back to work so some of my co-workers could take a look. I'll probably head back tomorrow, just to drop off the server. 2 hours of driving for a simple drop off. Like I have plenty of free time!
