While contemplating adding another base class to a pet project, I decided to benchmark using AUTOLOAD instead. Before I applied AUTOLOADing on my source tree, it was about 15,000 lines of code (spread over 90-some files). Now, I'm down to 13,000 lines of code and only a small difference in speed. Ofcourse maintaining the source tree will be a bit simpler too.
