After 12 days in sunny Italy, I'm back home. I missed 53 journal entries and am catching up rather fast. Altho I took my Perl Pocket Reference, I didn't cheat. I did however used my palm to write down some notes for later use. Some of the other people crashed it the very same day but fortunatly I wrote down some journal notes on plain paper as well. I will post a rather lengthy overview of my 12 day absence of computers and perl ASAP.
In short... I visited: Forum Romanum, Colliseum, Thermae of Carracalla, Vatican City, the Catacombs, Castel Sant'Angelo, Villa D'Este, Villa Augistino, Pantheon, Capri, Pompei, Napoli, a few basilisks, etc. I took about 105 pictures (most of which will bee online when I get em developed).
It seems that every time I'm away something important happens on the perl front. 5.8.1 RC1, RC2 and Ponie are released and Acme goes wild on search.cpan... When I was in Canada last august they managed to squeeze in 5.8.0 while I wasn't looking... *ARGH*
YAPC::Eu starts in a few days and I still have to remember and process most of what I wrote down on my palm right before it crashed. Oh well, I got an extra laptop battery and a 1.5 hour train ride, I think I'll manage just fine.
