Your reactions please: I need a groan rating on the phrase "Perl: The Next Generation". Let's say a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is "mildly amusing" and 10 is "something akin to Vogon poetry".

I'm sorry to say: Vogon Poetry. There are too many NextGen projects. Besides, if you want to get a good rise of out the typical Perl audience, I suggest: Perl NT (New Technology). Microsoft seems to be done with the phrase.

Maybe an 8.Re:I give it a '9'

I would give it a 9 as well.
However, I am in negotiation with the French and Russian judges and may give it a rating of 1 depending upon the outcome of those talks.
(Don't worry, I'm not looking for a new name for the Perl 6 project, just a tagline for a book.)
Thanks, guys!
Unless it comes with a boobatious Counsellor Troi who can save the perl generation with her empathic skills I'd say it's hackneyed even around computer geeks.
How about 'Leave it to Perl' and I'll let you guess who gets to play 'the beav'
Counsellor Troi

Right, she goes on my list of possible recruits.;)
Unless it's The Next Generation of Perl, it's worse than putting a goat on the cover! Now if you could talk them into something like Perl for the Next Twenty Years, that might work better.

That's a sheep, a Barbary sheep to be specific. Nat's gonna love it.;) My vote's on "The Community's Rewrite of Perl".
