Are we the only people NOT gaming TIOBE?

It would appear that the blatant republishing of other people's blogs for the purpose of stacking web search and blog search results has been going on for a while...

How about a different tact?

We should start tagging everything with 'TIOBE programming' to see how long it takes to show up in the results.

I believe TIOBE would have to consider TIOBE a programming language for that to work.

I guess that shows that I don't care enough to bother knowing how TIOBE works.

I simply assumed...

ralsina on 2009-05-19T03:00:22

... this was some guy's personal "planet-like" site, and wanted a link back to my blog.

No need to see a conspiracy.

You're spotless in this; it's the scammers republishing content verbatim who deserve our ire.

But republishing is not bad. This very blog is published verbatim in planet perl after all ;-)

Then again, I don't know this guy's intentions, really, so I better stop guessing.

It's about the ads.

brian_d_foy on 2009-05-20T06:56:00

A lot of Perl stuff is re-published too. My stuff shows up all over the net in places I'd rather not be. I don't see them gaming TIOBE: they are gaming Google AdSense.

Sure, but most of the reposting I see doesn't have a giant tiobe-matching "Python Programming" at the top of the page.
