Arved Sandstrom <Arved_37@chebucto.ns.ca> has written MacSWIG and an accompanying tutorial, posted in the tutorials section of the MacPerl Pages. SWIG (Simplified Wrapper Interface Generator) is a tool to create interfaces from low-level languages to high-level ones. It is similar to XS (Sandstrom also has a tutorial for doing XS on the Mac posted in the same place), though it is language independent, having been extended to Perl, Python, Tcl/Tk, Java, Eiffel, and Guile. Only PPC is currently supported.
