As many of you might know, DBI is severly hamstrung on platforms that don't have database libraries available to build the DBDs with. So last year DBI was distributed with DBI::ProxyServer and DBD::Proxy to let remote clients connect to talk to DBDs through a host running DBI::ProxyServer. This works with MacPerl, too, and Adam Whitney wrote a explanation of his setup demonstrating how to get it to work.
If we get inspired, we might work on updating the mysql database for Perl News from our Macs. Bwahahahaha.
