I've just uploaded the redesigned File::ShareDir, which should both resolve the various problems with the original design, AND (hopefully) be fully back-compatible with old previously-installed files.
Any testing people can do would be appreciated.
To install files into the new paths, please use the svn version of Module::Install from http://svn.ali.as/.
In short, previously there was some confusion between module files and distribution files, and had packlist-related problems in some areas.
The new install paths look something like .../auto/share/dist/Distribution-Name/test_file.txt
