CPAN::Reporter goes beta

brian_d_foy on 2007-09-24T14:27:00

Since the initial release of CPAN::Reporter, one of the big missing features was sending CPAN Testers reports for *.PL and make/Build stages. A while ago, I added that capability in the CPAN::Reporter and CPAN development series.

With the new, stable release of CPAN 1.92, CPAN::Reporter is very close to its 1.00 release. I've just bumped the CPAN prerequisite to match and put out CPAN::Reporter 0.99_12. I consider this a release candidate for 1.00.

If you're already using a development version of CPAN::Reporter, please upgrade to the latest to help shake out any last blockers. If you aren't using a development version of CPAN::Reporter and would like to try it, it should install easily from the CPAN shell (and will upgrade CPAN for you if necessary).

cpan> install DAGOLDEN/CPAN-Reporter-0.99_12.tar.gz
...
cpan> reload cpan

Thank you very much to everyone that has contributed suggestions and bug reports along the way.

So 1.00 is going to have HTTP support right?

No. I have no plans for CPAN::Reporter to create its own transport mechanism separate from that provided by Test::Reporter.

See CPAN::Testers for a graphic and description of the CPAN Testers architecture.

Additional Roadmap ideas are on the CPAN Testers wiki. You can also email cpan-testers-discuss-subscribe@perl.org to participate in discussions on how to improve CPAN Testers.

Right you are, I keep forgetting this.

I should henceforth try to heap my scorn in the appropriate place. :(

I'll offer to co-sponsor a meter of beer, if you think that would help...

It's not that class of problem right?

That is, it's intentionally not being implemented?

That said, nobody is stopping you from offering your own attention-grabbing award :)
