Some more YAPC::Europe News
First of all, this YAPC seems to get the biggest YAPC::Europe ever, with
currently more then 400 registered attendees, and more than 320 who
actually paid their ticket (or will give a talk). Wow!
Now for the news:
- WLAN:
We've written up some informations on how to get on the WLAN at the
venue:
http://vienna.yapceurope.org/ye2007/wiki?node=WLANSetup
There is a small catch, though, as the 'easy' WLAN might not be
available any more when the conference starts. We're currently trying
to make it stay!
To make sure that you can enjoy the wireless (especially if you're
running Linux), please read through the instruction and make sure you
come equipped with all kernel modules you might need :-)
- Pre-Conference Meetup (and early registration) on Monday:
This event will take place on Monday, 27th, from 19:00 to 24:00 in a
pub called 'Centimeter III' (Liechtensteinstrasse 42, 1090 Vienna)
You can find the pub on the google map:
http://vienna.yapceurope.org/ye2007/map.html#activity
We meet not only for food, chatting and drinks, but you can also
register there, and claim your goodie-bag!
More information is available on the wiki:

- speaking of the Wiki:
If you're arriving early or staying longer, you can use the Wiki to
find other attendees for some sightseeing etc:

You can also tell us, which Hackathons or BOFs you want to visit:

Plus lots of other infos...
- Lockers
There are quite a few safe lockers in the basement of the venue.
Please store your valuables there. We can't guarantee the safety of
you unattended belongings in the conference halls, since the venue is
publicly accessible.
You will need a 2 Euro Coin as a deposit.
- Job Fair
At the second day of the YAPC::EU 2007 - the 29th of August - a job
fair will take place in the foyer of the venue from 10:30 until 17:30.
There are plenty of companies presenting themselves, and some even
have some special goodies for interested attendees...

- CPAN Forum Tagging Competition
Several weeks ago Gabor Szabo added tagging capability to CPAN::Forum
so users can add tags to any of the CPAN modules.
On http://www.cpanforum.com/stats/ you can see the stat of the top
taggers. The 3 participants on YAPC::EU who are going to be on the
highest positions will get some present from Gabor!

- Auction
As you might expect, there will be an auction at the end of
YAPC::Europe, hosted by the incredible Greg McCarroll.
We already have quite a bunch of interesting things to auction off,
but we're still looking for more.
Eg: T-Shirts from past and upcoming Perl events, Books, Haircuts,
T-Shirt-Colors (or fabrics), Names of unborn children, .. we'll take
everything! Just drop us a line...
The net profit of the auction will go to next years YAPC::Europe, so
even if you do not donate anything to auction off, come packed with
cash to not only buy cool merchandise (or funny items), but also
support Perl!
(We'll take payments in any currency that's exchangable into Euros,
plus credit cards...)
If you have any questions that are not awnserd on our website:
http://vienna.yapceurope.org/
please do not hesitat to send an email to vienna2007@yapceurope.org
or try #yapc on irc.perl.org
Looking forward to seeing you (OMG, 5 days left...)

on behalf of the YAPC::Europe 2007 organisers.
