hcchien writes "After the success of YAPC::Taipei 2004 & 2005 conference in Taiwan, the Taipei Perl Mongers this year will expand the scale of the conference, and proud to announce the "Open Source Developers' Conference in Taiwan (OSDC::Taiwan)". OSDC::Taiwan will be held from April 8-9, right after YAPC::Asia 2006 conference in Tokyo, Japan.

The topic of the very first OSDC::Taiwan is "Tools, Toys and Tips". We welcome contributions from all fields on topics related to the latest open source development tools, and present your new ideas to the communities. The OSDC::Taiwan organizing committee is now accepting presentation proposals.

* Tutorials (3 hours long)
Half-day tutorials tend to cover a wide range to material for a certain aspect of open source programming. For example, an XML tutorial could cover XML basics, to writing XML, to parsing XML, to practical uses of XML.
* Session Talk (60-90 minutes)
Session Talk are reserved for experienced speakers covering large topics. If you have an in-depth topic you would like to present in some detail, perhaps with considerable discussion, a Long or Extra-Long talk may be the format of choice.
* Lightening Talk (15-20 minutes)
Lightning talks are brief talks that focus on a single example, idea, project, or technique. Lightning talks do not attempt to cover all aspects of their subject matter, but rather to present one facet of the idea clearly and succinctly.

The proposal submission deadline is February 28, the presenting language includes English and Chinese. English Speakers will have a simultaneous translation during the presentation.

Please submit your proposal to osdc@hcchien.org, the proposal should includes the title, format of the proposal, and an abstract. We will arrange the schedule of the conference after we receive all of the submission.

Conference registration will be available in the beginning of March. We hope you will participate. If you have any questions, please mail hcchien@hcchien.org."
