FOTANGO DONATES GRANT MONEY TO THE PERL FOUNDATION
23 January 2004, London, UK, Fotango have provided funds to The Perl Foundation (TPF) for work on new profiling tools for Perl.
The work will be carried out by Abhijit Menon-Sen over the next ten months and will provide a generalised instrumentation framework for the Perl programming language. Perl programmers everywhere will benefit from the enhanced reliability and accuracy of new profiling tools.
"We are excited about Fotango's commitment to Perl development. Their generosity in developer time, contributed code, and project funding are helping to improve the quality and reach of Perl." commented Allison Randal, president of the TPF.
Rather than merely consuming the work of the Perl community, Fotango tries to contribute where possible, with activities ranging from publishing Open Source software to conference sponsorship. Fotango now intends to support The Perl Foundation on a regular basis in order to advance and promote the development of Perl. Simon Wardley, Fotango's COO, says: "We are thrilled to be able to contribute to Perl development and help provide useful tools to the community."
The Perl Foundation is dedicated to the advancement of the Perl programming language through open discussion, collaboration, design, and code. The Perl Foundation is a unit of the Yet Another Society (YAS), a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization based in Holland, Michigan.
Fotango is a creative solutions group providing consultancy on software projects. Fotango employs a large number of open source contributors and releases much of its own software as open source. Fotango is based in London, UK. http://opensource.fotango.com/

I'm confused - has the story been updated to make its spelling identical to the
perl5 Authors file? [and the name given by his IRC client]Re:Fotagno

Yes. (I should have mentioned this.)
