From what I know, the group has long been in existence, but has never been very active. Months and maybe years ago the HoustonTX Perl Mongers group was created. I think the creation of the second group was due to the former group leader being AWOL for quite some time. I'm not positive why the new group was formed but what I do know is that neither group has found much support and now we are left with 2 divided, inactive groups.
For the past 3 months, Chuck, David and myself have been meeting and discussing perl and various related technologies at our meetings. What we aim to do now is consolidate the 2 groups forming a cohesive, active, perl-loving Perl Mongers group in the Houston area.
If you would like to join us or if you were involved in any previous Perl Mongers goups in the Houston area please attend our next meeting. Our meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the 4th Friday of each month at HAL-PC."
