Not-a-monger

Maybe the appeal is that its a new group without the baggage that a long running Perl group has picked up.
Sometimes its easier for everyone to be a newbie and gel than it is for a few new people in the middle of a load of old friends; although i assume that enoough PerlMongers will show to make it yet another PM meeting with the same problems.

If you have more details of the kinds of problems that you've found with Perl Monger groups, then I'd like to hear them. I'd really like to ensure that all groups are as welcoming to newcomers as possible.
Feel free to contact me by email - user_groups@pm.org.
Hmm, well I can't make it...
I'm going to be at YAPC::Europe...
Hmm, Hamburg

One thing this can do is serve Perl users in places where there's no mongers group (yet)... such as Hamburg. (Though I don't know whether they'll get together four people if there's no way to tell Perl programmers.) And this month is bad because of YAPC::Europe
