DarkBlue writes "WYPUG (West Yorkshire Perl User Group) has been established to serve the Perl community in the West Yorkshire area (UK). Membership is free and open to everyone.

The groups main aims are:

  • to offer help and troubleshooting to our members through our mailing lists, IRC channels, web forums and, naturally, regular meetings
  • to publish articles and tutorials (amongst other content) via our website (http://wypug.pm.org/, http://wypug.digital-word.com/)
  • to contribute to the open-source community via CPAN through collaborative projects
  • to provide our members with discounted books (courtesy of O'Reilly & Associates)
  • to host an annual conference (potentially)
  • to provide group packages for travel and accommodation to events such as YAPC (where possible)
We are now trying to build an editorial team to write interesting and informative articles and tutorials for the WYPUG website. If anyone is interested in writing for WYPUG then please don't hesitate to contact me (wypug-admin@digital-word.com).

Thank you. WYPUG

WYPUG is an O'Reilly and Perl Mongers sponsored user group."

I hope the monthly meetings include going for a few pints afterwards ;-)

(Leeds was recently voted the best night out in the UK)

Going for a few pints afterwards? I suspect most meetings will start in the pub and end in the pub, all the little bits in between are also likely to be pub based. 8-P

As for that vote - I have to agree, Leeds is one hell of a city for nightlife.

Always inebriated,

PUG?

Why "Perl Users Group", and not "Perl Mongers"?

Because WYPUG is easier to say than WYPM (especially after the alcoholic meetings described above (hic)).
