Leon Brocard writes in his journal that a new mailing list has been formed for P5EE, p5ee-subscribe@perl.org, for discussing a common perl API like Java has in J2EE.

"P5EE"?

As he mentioned, there was a mentino of J2EE on the mod_perl list. Pity he chose the first (and worst) name of the many suggested ones.

However, the name is not important. It does not define the project, as it were, and a name like P5EE instantly tells you that it is related to J2EE.

This is true. It just seems so ... parasitic.

Sure, Perl borrows a considerable amount from other languages, but it also tends to make it into something of its own. Embrace and extend, if you like =)
