What particularly wonderful timing! Just this week I wrote a mail notifier framework for the Cyrus IMAP server. The framework's notification implementations are written in Perl, and I was planning to write a sample that did a Jabber notification...

These are excellent. They don't assume you know very much at all (thus are perfect for me

and show you how to do some fun things. Jabber's still bleeding edge as far as I'm concerned, but bleeding's not all bad.
