Day One

Today has been fun so far. I saw Abigail's tutorial in the morning, and I am in Damian's talk now (going to this site with the wonders of WaveLAN). Check out all the action on IRC (as noted previously) and on use Perl's yapc section.

If you hanging around, use the terminal room from VA Linux and buy raffle tickets from "Amelia, the cute blonde" to win a VA Linux computer, with proceeds going to the Perl Mongers to benefit perl advocacy.

Don't forget to sign up for paintball on Friday if you want to play.

This is Wednesday, but I'm not in Pittsburgh

I really regretted missing YAPC 1999, and I've been looking forward to YAPC 19100 with bated (not to say baited) breath.

To my distress, however, I find myself once again a victim of circumstance, trapped here in sunny (!) California when seemingly everyone else in the North American Perl community is off in Pittsburgh ... and before that, in Alaska.

Still, I wish to be there in spirit if not in body. So if anyone gets a feeling of vuja de[1], well, that's me projecting my mental state from here. Or maybe it's just gas.

And to comfort those of you who were hoping to raise a beer with me (yeah, both of you): Look at the bright side! My having an extra week without travel makes my getting Topaz working by TPC4 just that much more likely.

[1] vuja de, n. That strange, otherworldly feeling that you have never been in this place before.

Exciting Stuff

So you are finding Mr Conways talk a little too exciting then ;-} I'm open to blackmail not to tell him

Well, I'll show him your post so it won't matter.

Ack! Well, we'll see you in sunny California (unless circumstance holds US up :).
