Some company who has been mentioned perhaps far too much on this site already is sponsoring the Perl Power Contest at yapc, where contestants write innovative programs using ActivePerl 5.6 (or if unavailable for your platform, regular ol' perl 5.6.0). Deadline for entries is midnight Pacific time, June 19.

Kevin Lenzo, the courageous soul behind all this wonder that is yapc, notes that Yet Another Society is being formed as a non-profit organization to be the parent for yapc. One of the first steps will be to get nominations for a board during yapc, and then to get the board together and draw up a charter.
Lenzo has put up the tentative yapc schedule. McConomy is the big auditorium; Rangos I, II, and III are as last year.
