Thanks to Graham Barr and Elaine Ashton, we now have a CPAN Uploads RSS file and Slashbox, which contains the latest uploads to CPAN as reported by search.cpan.org. If you have not changed your custom Slashboxes, you should see the CPAN Uploads box right there on the right side of the home page. If you have changed your custom Slashboxes, go to your preferences and add it in.
Elaine says it is getting updated once a day now, but it may go to being updated several times a day. Thanks, both of you.
So, my question: will this obviate the need on this site for a Perl Modules story listing the latest uploads, like we've had on Perl News forever? I kinda think so.

Well maybe, but right now the CPAN Upload box will only show the latest 15 uploads.
If/when http://search.cpan.org/recent gets an overhaul then it would be a definate yes.

Yeah, I was thinking about the 15 limit. Hrm. Well, we could always ignore the limit. It is in the RSS spec, but that doesn't have to stop us.

Well, I suppose CPAN had to bow to XML sometime. I wonder if there's a way for CPAN.pm to take advantage of this. It seems like this may be the tip of the iceberg.

The idea of having CPAN.pm use PPDs like PPM does with AS Perl is being discussed. I rather like the idea but the question is what gets included, how will it be best formatted, what uses will it have and how to inspire a legion of CPAN authors to update their modules with such a thing.

OK, I now have the regular recent.rdf as the default, and the long one as an option, so you can choose which one you want on here.
